Kilns and Drying

Drying Drying
Timber

After milling, the cut timber is sorted by width, length and grade and stacked into strip stacks. The stacks are then stored in the open until the moisture content decreases to approximately 20% - the timber is then ready for the final process in the kilns.

Whiteland Milling has 9 drying kilns comprising of 2 x solar kilns which are gas assisted, 3 x dehumidifying kilns which have gas heaters and compressors and 4 x kilns which operate from an industrial hot water system pumping hot water through pipes in the kilns to generate the heat.
